Use in Service History
Hydrapanel was officially introduced to the NZ market by Bunnings in February 2015.
Previous to this Hydrapanel had been used directly into specific contracts as part of the final design and codemark certification process.
The first versions and design process started in 2012 and are an extension of product developments that started with research design and production of water resistant timber flooring systems that Hydrawood Group have been developing since 1998
Product Criteria
Design requirements
Hydrapanel is a non-structural pre finished wall and ceiling panel lining that is impervious to moisture and resistant to water, steam, abrasion and typical cleaning materials.Intended primarily for use in wet areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and laundries
Hydrapanel is ideal for use as a lining system in areas requiring durability, high impact resistance and areas requiring a high level of hygiene.
Hydrapanel is constructed as a sandwich lamination of high pressure laminates and magnesium oxide sheets. The panels are silica free, contain no VOCs and are contractor friendly requiring no special tools for cutting or installation.
Panels can be fixed to timber or steel framing and to existing linings with a range of plastic and aluminium track systems and fillets.
Installation requirements
Hydrawood Lining products can be fixed directly to Steel and also timber frame constructions.
Lined Walls and ceilings Surfaces, such as plasterboard must be flat, sound and suitably fixed
Ensure concrete, masonry is dry and seal if necessary.
Old shower linings must be removed, framing and plumbing must be inspected to ensure items are fit for covering.
Full instructions can be viewed and or downloaded @ http://www.hydrawood.co.nz/installation-and-specifications
Maintenance requirements
Hydrawood Linings are water and moisture resistant panels, however the sheets must be installed and maintained to resist water penetration.
Care must be given to joints and penetrations and these must be maintained to ensure that no water can penetrate to the framing.
Hydrawood Linings are finished in High Pressure Laminate and such the cleaning of such should be with non abrasive cloths and cleaners
Warrantees
STORAGE AND HANDLING OF SHEETS
Long term storage of the sheets must be under cover on evenly spaced bearers(600mm max) to keep them flat and dry. Outside storage requires panels to be covered with a breathable waterproof material that allows air to circulate around the panel stack. Panels must be lifted and not dragged off the stack.
