Product Description
SteelMaster 1200HPE is a 100% solids high-performance epoxy intumescent protective product for greater levels of fire performance with the added protection and robust properties to withstand a wider range of elements, whether that be extreme weather or impact protection.

The formulation is a high-solid, two-pack intumescent, giving a quality finish when applied in accordance with Jotun’s guidance. Hold up has been expertly balanced against sag resistance, ensuring a uniform finish. Formulation also allows for fast curing, meaning coats can be applied in a single shift, so turnaround times and constructability is dramatically increased. The coating will provide a 10% faster application process than any other similar shop-applied fire protection epoxy on the market. It can also be applied on-site with suitable single leg application equipment.
Provides a durable coating that can be applied to up to a ISO12944.2 C5 environment without a topcoat, and in internal environments up to C3 without a primer.
National Approved Applicator network ensures QA standards are maintained.

Scope of use
Suitable for interior and exterior use on structural steel in accordance with AS/NZS 2312.1 & 2. Specifically designed for off-site application of structural steel exposed for use in internal or external environments up to corrosivity category C5 (ISO 12944.2), with or without a compatible topcoat. The product can also be applied on site with suitable single leg application equipment.
Approved Applicator product. Requires suitable and compatible primer over properly prepared steel, applied in suitable conditions strictly following application instructions.
Contact Zone for tested / approved / compatible systems.
Required film thicknesses to achieve FRR's will be calculated by Zone / Jotun.

When specified, applied and maintained as designed and documented, and as described in Fire Protection Association (FPANZ) Code of Practice for the Specification and Application of Intumescent Coatings for the Fire Protection of Structural Steel. CoP-03 Version 1, Issued 01/10/20, Jotun SteelMaster 1200 HPE will achieve the above Technical Requirements of the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC).
Durability to B 2.3.1(b) & B 2.3.1(c) is determined by the overall coating system and specification - contact Zone for assistance if required.

In the case of fire, Jotun SteelMaster 1200HPE intumescent coating will maintain the structural integrity of the steel to which it is applied for the rated period in accordance with BS476 Part 20/21. Designed with an approved primer and protected with an approved topcoat the system can provide durability up to 25 years in accordance with AS/NZS 2312.4.

Product Criteria
Design requirements
Specially designed as a reactive fire protection system for steel constructions. Designed to protect up to 180 minutes on a wide range of I section beams and columns. Fire tested and approved to BS 476 part 20/21. Suitable for structural steel exposed to internal environments. For a detailed coating specification please contact your local Zone/Jotun representative.
Installation requirements
The required quality of surface preparation can vary depending on the area of use, expected durability and if applicable, project specification. Metal surface preparation refers to requirements for preparation prior to application of approved primers.
This product must always be applied over a primer approved by Jotun. Only approved and qualified primers can be used in conjunction with this product.
Intumescent coatings require a greater degree of environmental monitoring than conventional coatings. They are moisture sensitive and must be protected against high humidity, rain and consequent water ponding both during application, transportation or during storage prior to being erected at site.

Maintenance requirements
The coating system shall be maintained by Owner who needs to ensure the coating systems are inspected at regular intervals not exceeding 18 months and an inspection report is made. Any damage or coating imperfections detailed in the report and not covered under the provisions of a Jotun Guarantee shall be repaired as quickly as reasonably practicable but in no event later than 6 months after the date of inspection. These repairs shall be carried out in accordance with Guarantor’s recommendations using Guarantor’s products. Guarantor shall upon request receive copies of Owner’s inspection reports.
Warrantees
Jotun provides a Product Performance Guarantee for specified systems when applied and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer guidelines.
