Hardwax-oil for interior floors and stairs that need slip resistance - stairs, stages, catwalks, dance floors and commercial or public interiors - on solid, plank, strip, OSB and cork.
Osmo Polyx-Oil Anti-Slip is classified R11 (3089) to DIN 51130 - Acceptable Solution
Osmo Polyx-Oil Anti Slip (3089) is an interior decorative and protective anti slip hardwax-oil for timber and wood-based surfaces: solid and engineered timber floors, plank and strip flooring, stairs, OSB and cork flooring, and furniture. Specify it where a natural, microporous oiled finish is wanted with an antislip rating — it is breathable, water- and dirt-repellent, resistant to wine, beer and cola (DIN 68861-1A) and will not crack, peel, flake or blister. The sheen finishes to Satin. On floors where a colour is desired specify one coloured coat plus a clear top coat. Suitable for children's toys and safe for people, animals and plants once dry (EN 71.3). For interior use only. Not recommended for dark, extractive-rich hardwoods such as Wenge, Merbau or Jatoba.
Apply only to interior timber that is clean, dry (max 20% moisture content) and frost-free. Sand with the grain, finishing at grit P120 (clear) or P120–150 (coloured), then remove all sanding dust, grease, oil and cleaning residues. Ideal conditions are 20–23 °C and 50–65% relative humidity; lower temperatures or higher humidity extend drying. Stir well and apply thinly and evenly with a brush, roller, pad or floor-buffing machine at approx. 30–40 ml/m² (up to 30 m²/L per coat); no primer is needed. Correct any excess within 30 minutes of the first coat. Allow to dry 8–10 hours (clear) or about 24 hours (coloured), with good ventilation, before applying a second thin coat. Two coats total; on floors apply one coloured coat then a clear top coat. Surfaces are walkable after about 24 hours; keep rugs and mats off for about a week until fully cured. Caution: oil-soaked cloths can self-ignite — dry them flat or store in a sealed metal container.
Osmo Polyx-Oil is easy to maintain and can be renewed without sanding back the existing finish. For routine care, sweep or vacuum, then mop with a slightly damp (not wet) mop using Osmo Wash and Care; avoid aggressive all-purpose cleaners, which strip the oil-wax layer. Refresh dull or high-traffic areas with Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner, or recoat with Osmo Maintenance Oil (Anti-slip) or clear Polyx-Oil anti slip, typically once or twice a year depending on wear. Repair scratches and small damage locally with Osmo Polyx-Oil Care and Repair Paste — no full re-sand is needed and repairs blend without visible transitions. After several years, or when heavily worn, clean with Osmo Intensive Cleaner and apply one thin coat of Polyx-Oil to restore protection. Maintenance intervals depend on the level of use and foot traffic.
