Conectabal commercial balustrades are designed to reduce the risk of falls from retaining walls, access and fire stairs, ramps and elevated areas, with single or double handrail options. They are designed to NZBC Clauses B1 Structure, B2 Durability, D1 Access Routes (handrail configurations) and F4 Safety from Falling.
Manufactured from hot-dip galvanised steel (AS/NZS 4680 and AS 4792), with an optional powder coat finish, Conectabal is a pre-engineered, modular system. Standard configurations are designed and static load tested to the barrier loads in AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 Table 3.3 for occupancy types A, B/E and C3.
With 8 configurations available, Moddex Conectabal balustrades feature:
Moddex Conectabal commercial balustrades reduce the risk of falls for workers, customers and visitors in public and commercial areas.

B1 Structure: Moddex Conectabal Systems are designed and tested to AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 (Table 3.3) and AS 1657:2013 (CL6.1). Rated live loadings: Line: 0.75 kN/m | Concentrated: 0.6 kN | Infill: 1.0 kPa / 0.5 kN.
B2 Durability: Galvanized to AS/NZS 4680:2006, offering a minimum 5-year durability across all Exposure Zones when installed and maintained per Moddex Care and Maintenance Manual.
D1 Access Routes: Integrates with D1-compliant accessible handrails on accessible routes over 1m.
F4 Safety from Falling: Baluster spacing does not exceed 100mm horizontally, complying with F4 1.2 Balustrade Construction. Height is project-dependent to ensure compliance. Live loadings: Line: 0.75 kN/m | Concentrated: 0.6 kN | Infill: 1.0 kPa / 0.5 kN.

Restrictions on Use: Standard configurations are designed for occupancy types A, B/E and C3 (AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 Table 3.3), with a 0.75 kN/m line load and 0.6 kN concentrated load. Crowd loading up to C5 requires custom design by Moddex, with a project-specific producer statement. Not suitable where the barrier must resist vehicle loads. The substrate must be designed by others to resist the applied loads.
Finshes: Available in hot-dip galvanized steel with optional powder coat finish. Assembled on-site with mechanical fixings without site welding.
Conectabal balustrade systems must be installed by accredited Moddex installers or installers approved by Moddex, in accordance with the Moddex Conectabal PS1 and Moddex Installation Guide.
Regular inspection and cleaning are required to maintain compliance with NZBC Clause B2 Durability: Refer to the Moddex Care and Maintenance Manual for full maintenance guidelines.
