Scope of Use

Moddex Ezibilt™ Ramp & Stair systems provide safe, compliant access to buildings for the public and people with disabilities.

Applications Include:

Permanent ramps, decks, and stairs on all construction sites
Schools, educational facilities, and portacoms / site offices
Portable, container, and tiny homes
Fire escape platforms and stairs
Roading site village access
Post-injury disability access
Parks, gardens, outdoor huts, walking tracks, and viewing platforms

New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)

The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:

Clause B1 Structure: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2, B1.3.3(a), B1.3.3(b), B1.3.3(c), B1.3.3(f), B1.3.3(h), B1.3.3(j)
Moddex Ezibilt ramp and stair systems comply with NZBC B1 requirements for design loads. Designed for a maximum capacity of 5.0 kN/m², Ezibilt meets load requirements across residential (min 2.5 kN/m²), public, commercial, and high-traffic industrial applications.
Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(a)
Ezibilt ramp and stair systems are hot-dip galvanized to AS 4792 and AS/NZS 4680:2006, achieving a 50-year design life when installed and maintained per Moddex Care and Maintenance Manual guidelines.
Clause D1 Access routes: Performance D1.3.1(a), D1.3.1(b), D1.3.1(c), D1.3.3(a), D1.3.3(b), D1.3.3(c), D1.3.3(d), D1.3.3(l), D1.3.3(m), D1.3.4(b), D1.3.4(d), D1.3.4(e), D1.3.4(i)
Designed to NZBC D1 and NZS 4121:2001 standards, Ezibilt systems feature:
- Max 1 in 12 ramp gradient with level approaches
- Min 1200mm clear width and min 1200mm landings (spaced max 9000mm)
- Slip-resistant surfaces on footpaths, ramps, and landings
- Min 75mm upstand on drop-off sides

Product Criteria

Design requirements

Height Limits:

Non-braced posts: Maximum height of 0.6m above finished ground level.
Braced posts: Maximum height of 2.0m above finished ground level.

Producer Statement Exclusions:

Does not cover ramp design using FRP concrete decking.
Excludes installation in Earthquake Zones with hazard factor > 0.42g or near seismic faults.
Excludes installation in Very High Wind Zones or New Zealand Lee Zones.

Installation requirements

The Moddex Ezibilt System must be installed to a substrate (designed by others) capable of resisting applied loads.Ezibilt systems must be installed by an accredited Moddex Installer in accordance with the Moddex Ezibilt Installation Guide.

Maintenance requirements

Perform periodic visual inspections for damaged or loose fixings prior to use. No certified maintenance is required. Basic preventative maintenance for general wear and tear should be carried out per manufacturer specifications.
