Product Description
saveBOARD betterBRACE is a semi-vapour permeable rigid air barrier designed for use with timber framing. It is finished with a moisture-resistant fibre glass facer on one side and a paper facing on the interior
saveBOARD betterBRACE is 1200 mm in width and 10 mm thick, and three lengths: 2450 mm, 2750 mm and 3000 mm.
Made from 99% shredded and compressed composite packaging and soft plastics. ZERO Water, Glues, Chemicals added. VOC's and Formaldehydes are < 5% of the Green Building Standard (0.005mg/m2/hr)
Declare label: saveBOARD products have been determined to meet the requirements for all applicable Imperatives of the Living Building Challenge.
Scope of use
saveBOARD betterBRACE is a rigid air barrier and wall bracing element designed for use with timber framing. Moisture content must not exceed 16%.
saveBOARD betterBRACE is certified for use with buildings:
Wind zones up to and including Extra High (NZS3604)
Located in Exposure zones B, C and D (as defined in NZS3604:2011 section 4.2), except microclimates. Located in:i.Climate Zones 1, 2 and 3 where the internal lining is plasterboard, or Any Climate Zone where the indoor environment is controlled between 18C and 24C and the relative humidity maximum 65% rh, and d.where the cladding system:is not open-jointed and incorporates an 18mm minimum drained cavity
Over fix with flexible synthethic underlay within 7 days (joints do not need to be taped)
Seal openings and penetrations with a compatible flashing tape
Install in accordance with the saveBOARD betterBRACE Installation Guide NZ October 2024
New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:
- Clause B1 Structure: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2, B1.3.3, B1.3.3(b), B1.3.3(f), B1.3.3(h), B1.3.4
By testing and comparison with Acceptable Solution B1/AS1 and referenced standard NZS3604:2011
- Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(a), B2.3.2
By testing and comparison with Verification Method B2/VM1
- Clause E2 External moisture: Performance E2.3.2, E2.3.5, E2.3.6, E2.3.7
By analysis and comparison with Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 and referenced standard NZS2295
- Clause F1 Hazardous agents on site: Performance F1.3.1
- Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1
By comparison with the performance requirements of the Building Code clause F2.3.1.
- Clause H1 Energy efficiency : Performance H1.3.1
By analysis and comparison with Acceptable Solution E2/AS1

Product Criteria
Maintenance requirements
saveBOARD Rigid Air Barrier requires no maintenance;
however, the external cladding system must be well
maintained.
Check the external cladding system on a regular basis
and carry out any required maintenance as per the
suppliers instructions.

Warranty period:
15 years from proven date of purchase.
