Scope of Use
Fosroc Proofex Engage is a pre-applied waterproofing membrane which mechanically bonds to poured concrete, for waterproofing concrete basements, lift pits, carparks and other water excluding structures.
New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:
- Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(a)
Proofex Engage is a tanking material expected to have a service life of at least 50 years provided it is installed and maintained in accordance with the product’s technical data sheet and continually protected from sunlight and UV radiation.
- Clause E2 External moisture: Performance E2.3.3
Proofex Engage complies to British Standard 8102:2022 - Code of Practice for ‘Protection of Structures against Water from the Ground’ classes 1, 2 and 3, and will prevent water vapour and water from penetrating to the interior face of basement retaining walls and floors in spaces where moisture can cause damage.

Proofex Engage is a cell mesh bonded to a blended polyethylene / polypropylene membrane which will not present a health hazard to people.

The product meets the requirements set out in the following documents, or relevant parts of cited standards within the documents:
In the opinion of BRANZ (Appraisal No 1053), Proofex Engage, if designed, used, installed and maintained in accordance with the statements and condition of their Appraisal, will meet the following provisions of the NZBC:
Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B22.3.1(a) not less than 50 years. Proofex Engage meets this requirement.
Clause E2 EXTERNAL MOISTURE: Performance E2.3.3. Proofex Engage meets this requirement.
Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1. Proofex Engage meets this requirement and will not present a health hazard to people.
Design requirements
Proofex Engage has been BRANZ appraised as a tanking membrane for use:
On buildings subject to specific design with substrates on in-situ or precast concrete complying with NZS 3101; and
Where the membrane is subject to hydrostatic pressure with the pressure not to exceed 2 bar (20m head of water)
On building subject to non-specific design under floor slabs complying with NZS 3604 and behind concrete masonry basement walls and under floor slabs complying with NZS 4229.
Proofex Engage must be adequately protected against damage during backfilling and in service.

Maintenance requirements
Annual inspections should be made of the membrane top edge seal and protection, the backfill capping, and the drainage pipe to ensure all are functioning as originally designed. If required, the drainage pipe should be cleared to remove any sediment or silt build-up. The slope of the backfill capping must be maintained at all times.
