Product Description
Ausnet is a galvanised steel wire mesh used to support roof underlays, foils and glass wool insulation. Ausnet is easy to install and can be used on timber and steel framing. The product consists of a pattern of woven flat hexagonal shaped wires.
Scope of use
With a roof pitch not less than 3°
With profiled metal roof cladding
With masonry tile roof cladding.
With metal tile roof cladding
Situated in NZS 3604 wind zones up to and including extra high
For use on timber and steel framing to support roof underlays, foils and insulation.
Product should be enclosed within the dry roof space with no direct exposure to the weather upon the roofing completion work.
Product should not be installed in a roof space where air extraction, air ventilation, kitchen exhaust fan or dehumidifying devices are venting directly into the roof space.
Product must not be continuously exposed to a corrosive environment and/or high relative humidity environment greater than or equal to 90%.
When AUSNET is installed as per Kingspan Thermakraft’s installation instructions and BRANZ Appraisal No. 1029 [2023], the product will meet the requirements of the New Zealand Building Code B2 Durability.
New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:
- Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(a), B2.3.1(b)
Clause B2 DURABILITY: Performance B2.3.1 (a) 50 years, B2.3.1 (b) 15 years and B2.3.2.Thermakraft AUSNET Hexagonal Wire Mesh meets these requirements.
- Clause E2 External moisture: Performance E2.3.2
Clause E2 EXTERNAL MOISTURE: Performance E2.3.2. Thermakraft AUSNET Hexagonal Wire Mesh contributes to meeting this requirement.
- Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1
Clause F2 HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS: Performance F2.3.1. Thermakraft AUSNET Hexagonal Wire Mesh meets this requirement.

Thermakraft AUSNET Hexagonal Wire Mesh meets code compliance with NZBC Clause B2.3.1 (a),not less than 50 years for roof underlay support used where the roof cladding durability requirement or expected serviceable life is not less than 50 years, e.g. under masonry roof tile cladding, and code compliance with NZBC Clause B2.3.1 (b), 15 years for roof underlays used where the roof cladding durability requirement is 15 years.
