Design requirements
The Paslode
Purlin Nails are used as an alternative fixing method for purlins to rafters or
to the top chord of trusses. The Joint is formed by installing three Paslode
Purlin Nails through the purlin into the rafter or truss at each intersecting
connection. This joint meets the 2.4 kN alternative fixing capacity requirement
of NZS 3604 Table 2.2, fixing type T. Installed nails
must be spaced over the contact area of purlin and rafter to avoid any
potential splitting. Where a proprietary system manufacturer specifies standard
nails, permission must be obtained from them before Paslode nails are substituted.
Installation requirements

Nails are installed with the aid of Paslode nailing guns and can be done so by
any competent person.
Maintenance requirements
Paslode
Purlin Nails need little or no maintenance in themselves. Claddings over these
connections are required to ensure the required design life, then these must be
maintained as per the relevant manufacturers instructions.
