Product Criteria
Design requirements
The Abodo
Codemark Weatherboard system has a range of profiles, exterior mouldings and
accessories. Abodo has it’s tested Protector Waterborne stain colour range, along
with 2 reactive coatings and can offer factory coated solutions.
It is
designed for use as a cladding for residential and small commercial buildings. It is suitable for buildings within the scope
of E2/VM1 and with a 'Risk Score' of 20 or below per the Weather Tightness Risk
Matrix outlined in E2/AS1.
It is suitable for buildings
in wind zones up to and including Extra High as defined in NZS 3604. Buildings
in wind zones Extra High and above require a rigid underlay, longer fixings and
larger flashings.
Abodo Cladding-
Vertical is to be installed on either a 20mm cavity batten or 45mm structurally
fixed cavity batten. Weatherboards are fixed at max 480mm centres and can be secret
fixed or face fixed.
Secret fixing: use
flat head ring shank nails or self drilling, self counter sinking head screws
so as to achieve 30mm penetration into structure and positioned 12mm from the
tongue edge. Screw fixing is recommended.
Face fixing: use rose or pentagon head annular groove nails
(hand driven) to achieve minimum 30mm penetration into structure and positioned
approximately 10mm beyond the over- lap. Note: Silicone bronze/copper fixings
can be subject to oxidation during weathering, resulting in discolouration and
weeping around fixing head.
Installation requirements
Abodo Cladding - Vertical is to be installed in accordance with the Abodo Codemark Weatherboard Cladding Manual and details drawings. Please refer to Abodo website for all installation instructions and detail drawings.
Maintenance requirements
Maintenance is to be in accordance with the maintenance
guidelines available on Abodo's website.
Wash
down every 12 months with gentle detergent, warm water and soft brush. If
possible it is recommended to apply a further coat of oil after approx 12
months of weathering. Make a maintenance check every two summers. Check all
weatherboards, junctions, flashings, mouldings and replace or remediate as
required to maintain weather tightness of the cladding system. For heavily
soiled or mouldy areas use Rejuvenator or similar timber cleaner, apply active
mouldicide and recoat with penetrating oil. Re-coat every 2-4 years or as
required to maintain colour and integrity of coating. Re-coat period may be
longer or shorter depending on climatic conditions and/or positioning of
cladding to the sun. Preparation with Rejuvenator or other similar oxalic
timber cleaner is recommended prior to coating. For Sioo:x coated timber refer
to specific maintenance information.
