Milliken modular carpet tiles have a durability of beyond 5 years, based on NZBC B2/VM1 clause 1.1 in-service history.• Durability is supported by a 20-year limited warranty. Milliken modular carpet tiles have been tested to ISO 9239.1:2010 and achieve a CRF (Critical Radiant Flux) mean value ranging from 2.7kW/m2 – 9.8 kW/m2. Refer to the test report summary in Appendix 1.• The CRF ranges between 2.7 kW/m2 - 9.8 kW/m2 meeting the requirements of NZBC C/AS2 Table 4.5 Critical Radiant Flux for flooring for all risk groups except in risk group SI (Care and Detention) of unsprinklered buildings such as exit ways, sleeping areas and treatment rooms when CRF is lower than 4.5kW/m2. Milliken modular carpet tiles meet the requirements for slip resistance in accordance with NZBC D1/AS1 Table 2 Slip Resistance for Walking Surfaces; Carpet (Tufted or Loop Pile) – acceptable for dry and wet level surfaces and sloping surfaces or stairs.

To demonstrate that Milliken Products comply with the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC), a combination of evidence types has been used, including test reports, certificates, and product technical statements. These documents help show that a product, material, or construction method meets the NZBC's performance requirements, either through Acceptable Solutions, Verification Methods, or Alternative Solutions. Being in the flooring industry for many decades, Milliken understands the NZBC Compliance Pathways related to its flooring products. These pathways include, Performance Requirements, Acceptable Solutions (AS) & Verification Methods (VM), Alternative Solutions based on Accreditations, Appraisals, Test Reports, Certificates, Product Technical Statements (PTS), Expert Opinions and Risk Assessments etc By following the above methodology backed by documentary evidence, Milliken has demonstrated compliance with the NZBC and ensure that its flooring products are safe and meet the required standards.

Product Criteria

Design requirements

• Suitable for applications with high-traffic areas requiring with extra heavy-duty wear flooring covering. • Milliken modular carpet tiles meet the requirements for slip resistance in accordance with NZBC D1/AS1 Table 2 Slip Resistance for Walking Surfaces; Carpet (Tufted or Loop Pile) – acceptable for dry and wet level surfaces and sloping surfaces or stairs.

Installation requirements

• Install in accordance with Milliken Recommended Installation Guidelines using water-based pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive (Milliken Non-Reactive Standard Adhesive recommended).• Substrate prepared in accordance with AS 2455.1 Textile floor coverings - Installation practice - General.• Substrate to be dry, smooth, sound, clean, and free from dust and other contaminants.• Concrete substrates to be porous. May be primed or a moisture barrier applied where the subfloor is excessively porous, dusty or where moisture is present.• Concrete substrates pH 7 – 9 and Relative Humidity (RH) 75% maximum.• Timber substrates 10-15% maximum moisture content.• Substrate temperature 16ºC minimum.• Acclimatise carpet tiles for 24 hours minimum prior to installation.

Maintenance requirements

• Care and maintenance in accordance with Milliken Care & Maintenance Guide.• Daily removal of spots and spills - quick action reduces the likelihood of a permanent stain.• Regular vacuum cleaning.• Periodic steam cleaning.
