Product Description
Scope of use
Acoustic ceiling and wall panel for use with proprietary suspension grid system suitable for fire exit way and all other sprinklered & non sprinklered buildings.
High sound absorption, ideal for large volume spaces. NRC 0.95 for control of reverberation.
Triton Sports 40™ panel is ideal for use in classrooms, gymnasiums, halls, and corridors to control reverberation and background noise levels.
New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:
- Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1, B2.3.2
B2 Durability – Clause B2.3.1 (c) (i): Asona ceiling tiles with only normal maintenance will have a minimum durability of at least 5 years when installed in accordance with; manufacturer’s installation requirements and AS/NZS 2785:2020.
- Clause C3 Fire affecting areas beyond the fire source: Performance C3.4
C3 Fire – Clause C/AS2 3.4(a): Asona Triton Sports 40 has a Fire Material Group Number 1-S by NZBC verification method C/VM2 Appendix A, tested in accordance with ISO 5660 or ISO 9705.
- Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1
F2 - Care shall be taken when handling tiles to avoid damage. Finished product Is lightweight.

Product Criteria
Design requirements
Triton 40 Sport™ is ideal for use in classrooms, gymnasiums, halls, corridors etc to control reverberation and background noise levels.
Installation requirements
Shall not commence until the building is watertight and dry. This product is designed to be mounted into a 38mm wide, two-way exposed grid system and installed to manufacturer’s and AS/NZS 2785:2020 Standard’s requirements. Use CLW95-40 hold down clips at 300 mm centres to secure panels against uplift from ball impact. Seismic design may require a suitably qualified engineer. May be used for high-level walls above 2.4m. Install using construction adhesive and top hat or cover battens to panel joints. Care shall be taken when handling tiles to avoid damage.
Maintenance requirements
Clean with vacuum or soft brush. Re-surfacing of soiled panels available, consult Asona.
Warrantees
Asona Trion Sports 40 is covered by a 15 year limited warranty against manufacturing defects, extendable to 30 years when registered for Asona’s Renew and Reuse program.
Environmental
Made from 80% recycled local content, low embodied energy, product and packaging can be recycled in NZ. Low VOC <0.002 Mg/M²/hr per ASTM D5116. Renew & recycle service available to extend product life and reduce construction waste.
