Compliance Statement
Scope of Use
Natural Ventilation: Designed to enhance natural ventilation in buildings, contributing to architectural sustainability.
Smoke Relief: Designed for smoke relief and life safety, meeting fire engineering requirements.
Applications: Suitable for commercial, educational, industrial, and residential sectors.
This system is for projects that prioritise both natural ventilation and smoke control, ensuring compliance with sustainability and safety standards.
New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:
- Clause C5 Access and safety for fire fighting operations: Performance C5.6(a), C5.6(c), C5.7(b)
The chain actuators have been tested in accordance of relevant codes of practise for life safety applications.
- Clause G4 Ventilation: Performance G4.3.1
The ability to open/close automated windows to allow natural ventilation to occur.
The system is controlled by various weather sensors to maximise indoor air quality.
Internal & external temperature sensors / Co2 monitoring / wind, speed & directional sensor / rain sensor / BMS integration.
- Clause H1 Energy efficiency : Performance H1.3.1, H1.3.3(a)
Adding sustainability and natural ventilation to the building envelope
Notes
C5.6(a) - The purpose of the chain actuators are to prevent smoke logging by opening high level windows/skylights to exhaust smoke out the building, creating a path for the emergency team to fight the fire.
C5.6(c) - Providing smoke relief and clear passage
C5.7(b) - The control panel operating the chain actuators are provided with controls to operate the smoke system in emergency applications.
G4.3.1 - The chain actuator provides natural ventilation into the building at optimum times by the use of weather sensors
H1.3.1 - The chain actuator close the building during high winds / rain / high temperatures
H1.3.3(a) - The allowance of providing night time purging through automated windows.
