Scope of use
Depending on the variant,
Newton 508 is suitable for the waterproofing of earth retained walls, vaulted soffits and floors.
New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:
- Clause B1 Structure: Performance B1.3.2
- Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(b)
- Clause E3 Internal moisture: Performance E3.3.2, E3.3.6
- Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1
- Clause H1 Energy efficiency : Performance H1.3.1

Product Criteria
Design requirements
Newton 508 is suitable for walls and floors. Rolls are 20m long and 2.4m wide including the 70mm flat jointing flange. Do not apply to flat soffits unless the soffit is at least
400 mm narrower than the membrane to be used
and then only by very experienced applicators. Newton 508 is not a standalone product and has
no capability to withstand water pressure. Must be
used as part of Cavity Drain Waterproofing
system that safely removes water from the building.
Installation requirements
Newton 508 is required to be designed and installed according to the details and drawings described in Installation Manual, by Newton System’s trained and approved applicators.
Maintenance requirements
During the installation of the Newton 508, any repairs that are required should be carried out as they occur. This will save time later, and reduce the risk of overlooking a potential problem. Once the System is installed, but before the finishes are applied, the membrane Newton 508 should be checked for damaged areas and again repaired as necessary. Joints and seals should be checked to make sure they are adequate. Any repairs found necessary should be carried out in accordance with Section 11.2 of the Installation Manual.
Warrantees
When Newton 508 specified, installed and protected in accordance with the Data Sheet and Installation Manual and fully and permanently isolated from UV light, physical damage or wearing, and only to those substrates confirmed within, Newton 508 has a service life that is equal to the design life of the structure. Newton 508 is supplied with a product warranty of 50 years. Please note that this is not a guarantee. The waterproofing guarantee is provided by the specialist waterproofing applicator.
