Scope of use

• Is suitable for use such as interior wall linings, doors, cabinetry and horizontal applications.
• Is suitable for use in wet areas such as kitchens, laundries and some bathroom applications when pressed onto an MR substrate.
• Is suitable for applications where fire ratings need to achieve a group 1-s rating, when combined with an FR MDF substrate.
• Is suitable for both commercial and residential applications.

New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)

The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:

• Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(c)

  ALT HPL have a 10-year product warranty. This ensures the product will be free from manufacture defects for 10 years from the purchase date. ALT HPL have a density of 1300 ± 50 Kg/m³and a scratch resistance rating of ≥ 2 for smooth structures and ≥ 3 for other structures when tested in accordance with EN 438-2-25.

• Clause C2 Prevention of Fire occurring: Performance C2.2

  Must not be placed near a heat source that will cause the surface temperature to exceed 90oc - to meet Clause C2 prevention of fire occurring.

• Clause C3 Fire affecting areas beyond the fire source: Performance C3.4(a)

  ALT HPL achieves a D-s2,dO rating when tested to EN 13501-1. This has been correlated to achieve a Group 3 rating, using a Fire Growth Rate(FIGRA ratio). A FR HPL (indent only) will achieve a B-s1,d0 rating when tested to EN 13501-1. This has been correlated to achieve a Group 1-s rating, using a Fire Growth Rate (FIGRA ratio).

• Clause E3 Internal moisture: Performance E3.3.4, E3.3.5, E3.3.6

  The surface of ALT panels are antibacterial, impervious and easily cleaned.

• Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1

  ALT panels are safe when handled, have no added formaldehyde.

• Clause G3 Food preparation and prevention of contamination: Performance G3.3.2(a)

  The surface of ALT panels are antibacterial, impervious and easily cleaned.

Design requirements

ALT HPL (High Pressure Laminate) is a range of decorative laminates with a textured surface. Designed for both functional and aesthetic durability, the ALT HPL range features a selection of solid colours, plaster effects, and wood grain textures.

ALT HPL is designed to be bonded to a substrate, such as MDF or plywood, and used as a finished panel.

ALT HPL is designed to be used in a wide range of interior applications including furniture, cabinetry, doors, wall panelling, and horizontal use. ALT HPL is non post formable. Edge banding is used to protect the panels edge, which is available in both ABS and laser.

ALT HPL is available in 3 different designs– MasterOak, SolidVelvet and DesignForm.

ALT HPL is available in 3050mm x 1300mm x 0.7mm sheets.

Installation requirements

The quality of the installation plays a significant role in the long-term durability of the products. 

• Avoid leaning sheets against walls – always store sheets flat, in between protective MDF sheets, with a minimum of 4 bearers that are uniform in thickness and extend the full width of the sheets.
• Store sheets inside, away from heat, direct sunlight or moisture.
• Always lift finished sheets rather than sliding or dragging them to avoid chipping the edges or damaging the prefinished, decorative surface.
• Use edge protectors or padding when transporting finished panels to avoid corner or edge damage.
• Store sheets where construction traffic and construction activity will not damage sheets.

Maintenance is necessary for this product’s ongoing compliance. Please refer to the latest version of our ALT Care Guide for in-Depth cleaning and maintenance instructions. 

The key to maximising the lifespan of your ALT products lies in proper maintenance, which may include regular cleaning, avoiding excessive moisture, and promptly addressing any damage or spills. 

If well maintained and not subjected to unusually high levels of wear, it’s reasonable to expect ALT Products to last significantly longer than the warranty period.

Warrantees

ALT has a 10 Year Warranty. 

All VidaSpace products must be installed by a competent installer/contractor who has the necessary skills and experience and can take individual site circumstances into account. VidaSpace warranty will apply only to projects which have been installed, handled and maintained to industry best practice and New Zealand Building Code requirements. It is the responsibility of the specifier to determine the product is suitable and compliant for the application.
