Scope of Use
K2 Sliding Door Systems are designed primarily for interior applications in hygienic, healthcare, laboratory, pharmaceutical, food processing, dairy, cleanroom and industrial environments. They are available in manual, automatic, standard and hermetic configurations.
New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:
- Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(b)
K2 Sliding Door Systems are manufactured using durable materials including stainless steel, GRP, HPL, aluminium, steel, and composite panel systems designed to achieve a serviceable life of not less than 15 years when installed and maintained in accordance with K2 Doors installation and maintenance requirements. Automatic operating systems and hardware components are designed for commercial duty applications and are subject to regular maintenance requirements - Clause C3 Fire affecting areas beyond the fire source: Performance C3.6, C3.7, C3.9
K2 Sliding Door Systems may be used on access and escape routes where specified by the building design. Automatic sliding doors can be configured with emergency opening functions, fail safe systems, break-out functionality, battery backup systems, and safety sensors where required by the project specific fire and egress strategy. - Clause C4 Movement to place of safety: Performance C4.3, C4.4, C4.5
The K2 GRP Fire door range can be used within an escape route where relevant considerations are specified in the project requirements - Clause D1 Access routes: Performance D1.3.1(b), D1.3.1(c), D1.3.4(f)
K2 Sliding Door Systems may be used on accessible routes where clear opening widths, operating forces, thresholds, hardware, automation systems, and safety devices are designed in accordance with project requirements and applicable accessibility standards. Automatic door systems can be integrated with access control and touchless activation systems to improve accessibility and hygiene outcomes. - Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1, F2.3.2, F2.3.3
K2 Sliding Door Systems are manufactured from materials considered safe and suitable for use within occupied buildings. Where glazing is incorporated, safety glazing complying with NZS 4223.3 may be used where required. Materials used within the door systems are selected to minimise risk to occupants under normal use conditions.

Compliance of the K2 Sliding Door Systems with the relevant NZBC performance requirements is supported through a combination of material durability, established product performance, applicable New Zealand Standards, project-specific design, correct installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.
Compliance remains dependent on the door system being correctly specified for the application and installed, commissioned and maintained in accordance with K2 Doors documentation, approved shop drawings and automation supplier requirements.
Design requirements
Door size limitations, leaf weights, automation configurations, hardware selections, glazing options, and material selections shall be in accordance with K2 Doors project specific shop drawings, product literature, and installation requirements.
Automatic door systems shall be selected to suit the intended duty cycle, opening frequency, user requirements, and integration with building services including:
Access control
Fire alarm systems
Security systems
Building management systems
Cleanroom pressure requirements
Hermetic door systems require suitable surrounding wall construction, floor tolerances, and clearances to achieve intended sealing performance.
Installation requirements
K2 Sliding Door Systems shall be installed by suitably qualified installers in accordance with K2 Doors installation details, consent documentation, approved shop drawings, and automation supplier requirements.
Prior to installation:
Verify door location and handing
Confirm wall construction and support framing are suitable
Check floor levels and opening dimensions
Ensure products are free from damage or defects
During installation:

Maintain specified clearances and tolerances
Ensure tracks and guides are correctly aligned
Ensure sealing systems operate correctly
Ensure all safety devices and sensors are functioning correctly
Commission automatic operating systems in accordance with supplier requirements
Following installation:
verify smooth operation
Confirm correct sealing performance
Check safety sensor operation
Confirm access control integration where applicable

Maintenance requirements
Weekly
Visually inspect door operation
Check for damage to door leaves, frames, seals, and hardware
Ensure door tracks are clean and unobstructed
Confirm automatic doors open and close correctly
Verify safety sensors and activation devices are operating correctly
Every 6 Months
Inspect door seals for wear, damage, or deterioration
Clean seals using mild detergent and water
Inspect tracks and guides for wear or contamination
Check fasteners and fixings
inspect glazing and vision panels
where applicable
Service automatic door operators in accordance with manufacturer requirements
Every 12 Months
Check motors, belts, rollers, guides, and control systems
Inspect safety systems and backup systems
Verify hermetic sealing performance
where applicable
Inspect hinges, handles, locks, and latching systems
Tighten all fixings and hardware components as required
