Scope of use

The PENSA | Stertil | Complete Dock Systems are intended for use in logistics facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, cold storage facilities, and industrial sites. These systems are suitable for environments where efficient loading and unloading operations are critical, particularly in applications requiring enhanced thermal insulation, weather resistance, and energy efficiency.

Key applications include:

• Facilities with varying truck heights and high-frequency docking needs.
• Temperature-sensitive environments such as cold storage or food processing logistics.
• Locations exposed to strong winds or adverse weather conditions.

Restrictions:

• Dock shelters must be installed in compliance with minimum clearance requirements to ensure proper sealing and operational safety.
• Hydraulic dock levellers are limited to a maximum slope gradient of 13%, depending on internal transport equipment specifications.
• Sectional doors must be installed on structures that meet the load-bearing and stability requirements specified in EN 13241.

New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)

The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:

• Clause B1 Structure: Performance B1.3.1, B1.3.2, B1.3.3(a), B1.3.3(b), B1.3.3(c)
  • Compliance with EN 13241 ensures the structural integrity of doors and dock systems under imposed loads, wind pressures (Class 3-4 per EN 12424), and temperature variations. These standards align with NZBC requirements for stability and load-bearing performance.

• Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(b)
  • The systems use high-tensile steel, galvanized components, and polyurethane-insulated panels tested for a minimum 15-year lifespan. Compliance aligns with durability requirements of NZS 3101 and AS/NZS 2312 for corrosion protection.

• Clause D1 Access routes: Performance D1.3.1(b), D1.3.3(a), D1.3.3(b), D1.3.3(c)
  • Designed per EN 1398, dock levellers provide safe and ergonomic access, with features like smooth transitions, slip resistance, and obstruction-free pathways. This satisfies D1/AS1 requirements for safe movement and access routes.

• Clause E2 External moisture: Performance E2.3.2, E2.3.7
  • Dock shelters are tested to provide airtight seals that prevent water ingress, meeting E2/AS1 requirements for external moisture control. Material selection and design ensure long-term environmental sealing.

• Clause G4 Ventilation: Performance G4.3.1
  • Controlled airflow through docks contributes to maintaining healthy internal air quality, aligning with G4/AS1 acceptable solutions.

• Clause H1 Energy efficiency : Performance H1.3.1(a), H1.3.1(b), H1.3.2E
  • ISO 80 mm sectional doors with U-values of 0.49 W/m²K meet modern energy performance standards. These align with H1/AS1 provisions for reducing heat loss and controlling airflow, verified through EN compliance testing.

Key components include ISO 80 mm sectional doors, hydraulic dock levellers (swing lip and telescopic), and dock shelters (cushion, curtain, inflatable). Accessories such as guidance chevrons, vehicle restraints, and insulated sandwich panels enhance performance and safety. Fixings include pre-assembled spring systems for doors and galvanised frames for levellers.

Restrictions: Installation must consider site-specific factors such as vehicle heights, platform gradients (≤13%), and clearances. Custom finishes and configurations are available to meet project-specific requirements.

Installation requirements

The PENSA | Stertil | Complete Dock Systems should be installed by trained technicians experienced in industrial doors and dock systems. Installation involves securing frames, aligning dock levellers, and integrating dock shelters and sectional doors. Maintenance requirements

PENSA offers preventative maintenance agreements to ensure compliance with NZBC Clause B2 (Durability) and to optimize the long-term performance of the Stertil | Complete Dock Systems. Maintenance includes regular visual inspections to assess wear, functionality, and component integrity. Key tasks involve lubrication of moving parts, cleaning of seals and hinges, and proactive replacement of worn components,

Maintenance schedules must align with manufacturer recommendations, considering operational frequency and environmental conditions. Detailed records of inspections, repairs, and replacements are provided to document compliance and maintain system reliability. All work must be carried out by qualified technicians using manufacturer-approved parts to ensure durability and consistent performance over the system’s lifespan.

Warrantees

PENSA warrants the Stertil | Complete Dock Systems against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of installation. This warranty covers repair or replacement of defective components under normal use and maintenance, provided maintenance is performed under a PENSA Service and Preventative Maintenance Agreement. It excludes damage from misuse, unauthorized modifications, or environmental factors beyond design specifications.
