Mammoth NOVAfloor thermal insulation is made in New Zealand from 100% thermally bonded polyester fibres, including recycled plastic bottles. The polyester fibres give NOVAfloor excellent durability. Air trapped inside the fabric and inside the hollow fibres contribute to the insulation the segments provide. Mammoth NOVAFloor is a heavy duty, high density product which is semi-rigid in nature. It is designed for use as thermal insulation underfloors where the product can be friction fitted between floor joists.
Scope of use
Mammoth NOVAfloor is polyester, high density underfloor insulation designed for use as thermal insulation under floors - particularly for use in homes with exposed underfloors, prone to high winds and extreme weather conditions.
The product is friction fitted between floor joists, folded down on one side, removing the need for strapping or staples.
New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:
- Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(a), B2.3.1(b)
- Clause E3 Internal moisture: Performance E3.3.1
- Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1
- Clause H1 Energy efficiency : Performance H1.3.1(a), H1.3.2E
The product has and can make available the following additional evidence to support the above statements:
High Density Polyester Insulation R1.4 - 55mm Nominal thickness
NOVAfloor comes in varying widths...
SPLIT (mm) COVERAGE (sqm)
Mammoth NOVAfloor's 100% polyester underfloor insulation is friction fitted between joists. Present the long edge of the sheet to the inside of the joist and then pressure fit the body of the sheet hard up to the floor. Fold the trailing edge down so the friction fit is complete. Each piece must measure a minimum of 25mm wider than the gap between the joists before fitting. When fitted, the folded trailing edge section can be up to 140mm but not be more than the depth of the joist.
Cutting A specialist blade and knife is recommended - ensuring blade is sharp. Avoid cutting NOVAfloor sheets against joists or bearers and onsite cutting should be kept to a minimum.
Safety Mark up all electrical wiring & telephone lines prior to installation to ensure you don't damage any cables. For all piping and plumbing fittings, always maintain a 100mm gap between the NOVAfloor and the waste pipes in case of any future water leaks. Do NOT use staples to fit NOVAfloor.
Mammoth NOVAfloor requires no maintenance. Once installed it will fit to the space and will retain its thermal resistance for 50 years (with correct installation).
Effective insulation helps to limit the amount of energy used to heat homes and other buildings. InsulPro’s commitment to sustainability starts with high quality insulation products. For over a decade InsulPro has been improving product technology and installation techniques to make sure the Mammoth product range delivers excellent results.
The Mammoth range is made from 100% polyester fibre. Polyester is made from a substance called PET, which is what plastic bottles are made from. PET can easily be recycled. InsulPro supports polyester recycling in two ways; using recycled fibre from plastic bottles as part of the Mammoth insulation product range and recycling production off-cuts back into the process. Plastic packaging for the products is also recyclable. Our commitment to our sustainability journey continues - InsulPro is a carboNZero certified organisation and all Mammoth products are Red List Free (Declare programme).
Mammoth insulation helps create a warmer, more healthy living space - enabling a more energy efficient space. This protects our environment by reducing our fossil fuel consumption.
