Scope of use
Jet Stream MAX has been appraised for use as a thermal insulation material for buildings within the following scope:
- framed construction cavities of lined walls, skillion roofs and floors of domestic and commercial buildings; and,
- with construction cavities backed by a rigid substrate material or direct fixed wall cladding.
Jet Stream MAX must be installed by Knauf Insulation Pty Ltd Approved Installers in accordance with the Technical Literature to meet the stated thermal performance rating of the insulation
New Zealand Building Code (NZBC)
The product will, if employed in accordance with the supplier's installation and maintenance requirements, assist with meeting the following provisions of the building code:
- Clause B2 Durability: Performance B2.3.1(a), B2.3.1(b)
- Clause E3 Internal moisture: Performance E3.3.1
- Clause F2 Hazardous building materials: Performance F2.3.1
- Clause H1 Energy efficiency : Performance H1.3.1, H1.3.2E

Jet Stream MAX Blown Insulation is an Acceptable Solution in terms of New Zealand Building Code Compliance.
Jet Stream MAX Blown Insulation thermal resistance (R-value) has been determined by testing to AS/NZS 4859.1 which is an acceptable method.
The product has and can make available the following additional evidence to support the above statements:
The Blow-in-Blanket System (BIBS) is a process consisting of glass
mineral wool loose fill blown behind a special netting material in
framed applications. Jet Stream MAX Blowing Insulation is used in both
new and existing structures as a Blow-In-Blanket System for closed
cavity applications in which ventilation is not required.
Installation of Jet Stream MAX must be completed by Knauf Insulation Pty Ltd Approved Installers in accordance with the instructions given within the Jet Stream MAX Technical Literature and the BRANZ Appraisal
Where the building is maintained so that provisions of the NZBC E2 and E3 Clauses are met, and where the insulation is not crushed or exposed to conditions that will diminish its thermal performance (e.g. moisture), Jet Stream MAX can be expected to have a serviceable life of at least 50 years.
Insulation that has become damp must be removed and the cause of the dampness repaired. Cavities must be clean and dry before fitting new insulation of an equivalent thermal rating.
Jet Stream MAX Insulation conserves energy and therefore assists in
reducing demand for fuels for the heating and air-conditioning of
buildings. As a result, it reduces the emissions of the major greenhouse
The energy and CO2 emissions saved by the product in use vastly outweighs those generated in it’s manufacture.
Stream MAX is free from CFCs, HCFCs and any other material with ozone
depletion potential in its manufacture and content and represents no
known threat to the environment.
Jet Stream MAX’s manufacture has a low impact on the environment and is classified as Zero ODP and Zero GWP.
