EXPOL Underfloor Insulation panels are made from a fire retardant expanded polystyrene (EPS).
At 60mm in thickness, Expol Underfloor has an insulation value of R1.4.
In most situations floor insulation is exposed to the elements (as opposed to wall and ceiling insulation in a cavity) therefore, it is vital that the materials used will stand the test of time. EXPOL’s solid insulation products are not affected by moisture and will not degrade over time. EXPOL UnderFloor Insulation has a 50 year limited product warranty.
All fixing components are supplied by EXPOL and when used according to EXPOL’s installation instructions, will ensure the system lasts the life time of the construction.
EXPOL UnderFloor is a rigid white panel 1200mm in length supplied in four standard widths (360mm, 410mm, 470mm, 560mm), with concertina cuts on either side for easy installation. This product is a proven solution for timber floor insulation and has been on the market for over 20 years.
Scope of use
Expol UnderFloor is suitable for use as thermal insulation material in timber framed floors in new and existing residential and commercial buildings where the insulation remains dry during its serviceable life.

TEST RESULTS are available on our website
The product has and can make available the following additional evidence to support the above statements:
Expol Underfloor insulation is a 60mm polystyrene panel with concertina cuts to assist with installation. This product is suitable for ALL timber floor situations, including pole houses. Expol Underfloor Insulation can be used for both existing and new timber floors.
Wireguard is a waxed paper strip used to separate exposed electrical cables from EXPOL insulation. EPS in some cases reacts with the plasticiser and degrades the elastic properties of some electric cables over a prolonged period.
Non corrosive nylon fixings with a stainless steel nail are used to fix EXPOL panels in place, designed to suit both new and existing floor installations.
EXPOL supplies a low solvent glue designed to adhere polystyrene to most surfaces. UnderFloor panels can be glued in place using this adhesive as an alternative or in combination with the nylon
It is important to achieve a tight friction fit between the edge of the board and the joist; this is achieved by the compression of the pre-cut concertina cuts to the edges of the panels. It is important that all gaps are filled and a tight fit on butt joins be achieved. Small gaps can be sealed with extra material, or a urethane foam. Expol nylon support brackets must be used, in line with the Manufacturers Instructions and Technical Literature, to achieve a 50 year serviceable life.
Expol Insulation must be separated from all sources of heat and naked flame. PVC cables must be prevented from direct contact with any Expol Under Floor Insulation. A physical separation must be provided by running cables around the insulation boards, or by wrapping the cables with Wireguard supplied by Expol Ltd.
Expol Underfloor insulation is manufactured from 30% recycled material. All recovered polystyrene can be recycled by Expol.
